Speckled Rattlesnake ~  Crotalus mitchellii

Adult body length: 23-52 inches

Body length at birth: 8.5 – 10.5 inches

Breeding period: July to August

Young per year: 8 to 12

Typical diet: small mammals, lizards and birds

The Speckled Rattlesnake is a highly venomous

snake. It is found throughout the west. It is 

normally seen on spring mornings. When

approached the snake will lay motionless to

try and be avoided. It is capable of delivering

enormous amounts of venom in one bite, that

can cause death if not given medical care

immediately.
